Oldfield and Painsthorpe Road Play Streets raises funds for Hackney Foodbank

In July, Oldfield and Painsthorpe Road Play Streets put on a street party with lots of activities to raise money for two local charities. The community event raised £655 for Hackney Foodbank and we are so grateful for their continued efforts to support the community.

From Rini Paul, one of the organisers of the event:

“We’ve run Oldfield and Painsthorpe Road Play Streets to bring our community together for many years now. We’ve also had several street parties and felt this year 2022 a street party to bring everyone together again after the social isolation of the pandemic was even more important. We dined together, had a pet show, food and cake stalls - the Bake Off was judged again by the Mayor of Hackney, Philip Glanville. We shared monies raised between two local charities, one being the Hackney Foodbank as we want to continue to support those most in need locally. During the pandemic one of our residents organised monthly collections for Hackney Foodbank, it is an important part of our community.”

From all of us at Hackney Foodbank, thank you so much for your generous donation! Your contribution will help provide emergency food and support to many people in poverty in Hackney. Now more than ever, we are looking to our community for their support during these difficult times and we are in awe of the wonderful people who are coming together to help those in need.

Thank you.
