At Hackney Foodbank, our fantastic volunteers make our work possible in supporting people in crisis or trapped in poverty. From the warehouse to the food bank centres - and in between! - volunteers are involved in delivering all our activities.

We’re looking for volunteers who share our values of Dignity, Compassion, and Equity. If that’s you, take a look at the opportunities below and join our fantastic team today!

We request a minimum commitment of one 3-hour shift per week for 3 months for all roles.

 

 

  • warehouse volunteers

    Monday to Friday, 8.30am-11.30am or 12pm-3pm

    Join us in our Hoxton warehouse to prepare parcels of food and household items for our visitors. You will check, weigh, sort, and record incoming stock and put together parcels according to the guidelines provided. This role can involve lots of moving around and lifting crates weighing up to 20kg.

  • Drivers (Hackney area)

    Monday to Friday, 10am-1pm

    Wednesdays, 3.30pm-7pm

    Collecting donations from supermarkets, picking up goods from our storage facility, and delivering food parcels to food bank centres for collection - our drivers keep items moving to where we need them, and ensure parcels are ready to collect when our visitors arrive.

    This role requires experience of driving a Luton van, and a clean driving licence.

  • Food distribution Centre Volunteers (locations across Hackney)

    Be the smiling face that welcomes our visitors to the food bank and makes them feel at ease. You will greet visitors, verify their voucher, help them to collect their parcel, and offer support and signposting to relevant local services and organisations. This role can involve manual tasks such as lifting and moving crates of parcels ready for collection.
