join our wonderful team
Hackney Foodbank recently marked its 10th year of supporting local people in crisis and we are looking for compassionate people who share the same vision for a hunger-free Hackney to apply for our new roles!
Centre and Volunteer Supervisor
We are looking for a new Centre and Volunteer Supervisor to oversee the food distribution and quality at Hackney Foodbank's centres, whilst ensuring a positive visitor experience as well as proper signposting. Responsibilities include directing volunteers, collaborating with the Head of Food Distribution and Volunteering, and promoting best practices. The role also involves administrative tasks, organising home deliveries, inputting visitor data, and occasionally driving our Hackney Giving Van and a Luton van to food distribution centres.
If you have knowledge or experience working or volunteering with adults in crisis, understanding the importance of treating people with dignity and compassion and want to help you local community then this would be the ideal role for you!

Warehouse Assistant (voluntary role)
Acting as the link between food donations coming in and reaching those in crisis, you’ll support the smooth running of your local food bank. You’ll be part of a team sorting and packing food and additional items in the warehouse. You’ll be organised and have an eye for detail; this includes checking, weighing and recording stock and sorting food by date and type. This is a physical role as you’ll be on your feet a lot and you must be comfortable with some heavy lifting and maintaining a clean and safe warehouse.
