Demand for Hackney Foodbank increased by 30% (January 2024 - January 2025). We are currently providing emergency food for around 708 people per week.

In order to meet that rising demand, we ask for a donation from corporates volunteering with us. Your contribution will help ensure we have enough food for our visitors and will support our casework; helping visitors address the root causes of poverty.

Join us for the Supermarket Sweep Shopping Challenge. This activity is suitable for groups of (between eight and 70 people.

Businesses head to Hackney Foodbank’s Homerton warehouse for a talk about the need we’re seeing and the work we do. They’re given shopping trolleys, a list of our most-needed items and some challenges to complete on the way to the supermarket. There are points up for grabs (including being the team with the heaviest haul of shopping) and the winning team walks away with our fabulous shopping trolley trophy!

Will your team gain a coveted place on the Supermarket Sweep Leader-board?

The Supermarket Sweep challenge was a rewarding experience for all our colleagues involved. The activity combined community volunteering, colleague collaboration, and friendly competition in a fun and engaging format. After the event, the energy levels and feedback from colleagues were overwhelmingly positive – with many asking when they could volunteer again!
— Darren Khong, Burberry (January 2025)
Speaking on behalf of our TOMS team, we were so inspired by your team, the work they all do, and how amazingly organised the entire operation was. It truly was an honour to support the work even just for a day, and we’ll see if we can come back again soon to continue our support.
— Charlotte, TOMS (November 2024)
Volunteering at Hackney Foodbank was a powerful reminder of the strength of community. The experience was both challenging and uplifting, as we worked together to support those in need. It was a day filled with compassion, teamwork, and the rewarding feeling of making a difference in people’s lives.
— Kennedy's (November 2024)
The supermarket sweep was so well organised, and it was a great way to spend time together as a team. Fully recommend as a great volunteering opportunity for teams of any size

payroll giving

We’ve just launched a payroll giving scheme.

Funds raised will help provide emergency food parcels for people in crisis and enable work with food bank visitors to address the wider effects and causes of poverty.

It’s easy to set up and many employers offer match-funding.

Whether your a company looking to bring this into your workplace or a team member keen to sign up, we’d love to hear from you!
