Urgent need for volunteers!

At Hackney Foodbank, we urgently need volunteers who can regularly commit to:

  • Give time in our warehouse to help sort donated goods. This should be once or twice a week for 2-4 hours, Mon-Thurs. Training in manual handling will be given and you will be inducted by our Operations Manager and Warehouse Coordinator.

  • Accompany our drivers on deliveries and pickups. These are specific times Mon-Thurs and a typical shift is around 3 hours. This ideally suits someone who can lift crates up to 20kg. For more information about times, email volunteers@hackney.foodbank.org.uk

  • Drive a van or other vehicle to pick up collections from supermarkets across Hackney. Times can be flexible but can be Mon-Thurs and the occasional Saturday.

  • Attend our foodbank sessions and help pack food parcels for clients. Training is given and the list of locations is We need help greeting people, and making drinks. After an interview and induction, you can move onto taking food parcel vouchers from clients. These are important roles and require regular commitment to helping at the foodbank, and occasionally one of the others.

We also commit to ensuring you receive appropriate training and support. The volunteers at each foodbank are very much a team and if you are willing to give your time you will find it a very rewarding role.

Please contact us urgently about these roles at volunteers@hackney.foodbank.org.uk.
