Councils have a duty to help people experiencing homelessness. If you are homeless, sleeping rough or facing a housing crisis, your first priority should be to contact your local authority’s Housing Options team to find out what help they can offer.

HSBC and some other banks offer these accounts. You must be experiencing housing or homelessness difficulties and receiving support from Shelter or another HSBC partner charity. Participating HSBC branches at King’s Cross and Stratford.

Supports people aged 18 years or older, who live in Hackney (in all types of accommodation) or who are placed outside Hackney in temporary accommodation and have housing related support needs. Agencies can make referrals or you can self-refer.

Provides a range of support for people aged over 65, people with respiratory and cardiovascular ill-health, disabled and housebound residents, and low income families with children under five.
Can help with bills and energy saving advice, warm home discount, free home energy visits; DWP benefits checks; help with utility debt; Thames Water discounts; handyperson service; help to report repairs.

PETER BEDFORD HOUSING ASSOCIATION
Supported housing for single people aged 18-65 who are homeless or living in inappropriate or insecure accommodation. If you already access support from an agency such as an advice centre or substance misuse agency, ask them to make a referral for you or if you have a local connection to Hackney ask the Hackney Housing Advice Centre (see above) to refer you.

TENANTS ADVICE
For council and housing association tenants struggling to get help with repairs. You will not be charged for advice or for a home visit.
If your claim for repairs and/or compensation is successful then the company will deduct a percentage. You will not be out of pocket.
