Going for gold for Hackney Foodbank

Location Location is matching all food donations for Hackney Foodbank dropped into its Church St offices during the Olympic Games.

The Stoke Newington estate agency, which has been supporting the food bank for the past decade, is getting into the Olympic spirit with a big push for donations, which they’ve promised to double.

Peter May, Sales Director of Location Location, said: “We work closely with the food bank and are a permanent collection point for them.  Having heard about the huge surge in demand they’re experiencing this year, we wanted to do more and, with Olympic fever almost upon us, it seemed the perfect opportunity.

“It’s simple – donate non-perishable food to our office during the Olympics and we’ll match it.”

The Olympics run between July 26th and August 11th.  Location Location’s office hours are 9am- 6pm Monday to Friday and 10am-4pm on Saturdays.

Demand for Hackney Foodbank has increased by 42% in the past 12 months. The charity, which has food distribution centres throughout Hackney, is currently supporting around 630 people per week and distributing around £10,000 worth of food each week.

Head of Fundraising Jenna Fansa said: “In the past 10 years Location Location has collected almost four tonnes of food for Hackney Foodbank – it’s always a wonderful moment when they arrive at our warehouse to drop off.

“We hope this latest Olympic initiative will be a record breaker!  Maybe families can celebrate each GB Olympic medal by dropping in a tin or packet of food to Location Location!”

Among the items most-needed at the moment are tinned meat and fish, tinned vegetables, size 7 nappies, shower gel, pasta and rice.
