Aisling bea and fellow comedians raises donations for Hackney Foodbank

Aisling Bea with donations for Hackney Foodbank donated by the public in The Bill Murray

After hearing Hackney Foodbank’s pleas for more donations due to increase in demand, comedian Aisling Bea and supporter of Hackney Foodbank took the initiative to organise a food collection event on 21st December 2022. Aisling was joined by other comedians and actors to raise donations for Hackney Foodbank at The Bill Murray where the food drive was held followed by a comedy show.

Aisling has been a generous supporter and friend of Hackney Foodbank for years and we really appreciate her help in fighting poverty together.

Aisling Bea told London Live: “This came about because I sort of fell in love with people who work at Hackney Foodbank. A lot of food banks around Britain and in Ireland as well are predominantly run by people who have so much heart and patience and emotional intelligence – like a lot of care workers have. It’s so sad to see what’s happening and how they have been the first line of defence on something the government should be sorting for people. Anything anyone can do anywhere to support them is the very minimum we can do.”

Hackney Foodbank received an impressive total of 1.3 tonnes of food and household items from the food drive collection event. Huge thanks to everyone who donated and supported Hackney Foodbank!
