Access Self Storage stores in Islington and Kings Cross launch Christmas gift appeal for Hackney Food Bank
- Help beat last year’s gift haul, when 70 presents were donated to the local charity
- Christmas sweets, candy canes and chocolates are on this year’s charity Christmas wish list
- Gift donations can be left at Access Self Storage stores in Islington and Kings Cross from now until December 13th
Access Self Storage Islington and Access Self Storage Kings Cross have joined forces to collect Christmas sweets, candy canes and chocolates for Hackney Food Bank this Christmas, as the 8th annual Access Self Storage Christmas Charity Appeal launches this week.
Hackney Food Bank provides three days of nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people in crisis. They are part of a nationwide network of food banks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.
Asked what they would like to receive from this year’s collection, Hackney Food Bank has requested items that would put a smile on children’s faces this Christmas. We are therefore collecting sweets, candy canes and chocolates.
Last year, the Access Self Storage Christmas Appeal for Islington and Kings Cross saw more than 70 gifts donated by local businesses, individuals and families.
In the eight years that their Christmas Charity Appeal has been running, more than 18,500 gifts have been collected by Access Self Storage teams across the country to help dozens of UK charities.
Melanie Rochford at Hackney Food Bank said: “This has been such an incredibly busy year for us with over 50% more people fed in the community than in 2018. It has been a tough year to keep up with demand, so we are extremely grateful to have been chosen as the beneficiaries of Access Self Storage Kings Cross and Islington Christmas appeal. These donations of chocolates and sweets will really help brighten a tough time for individuals and families in crisis, especially at Christmas. This will add colour and cheer to the food parcels of essential items that we will be handing out to families in crisis. We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who gets involved with donating food to us over the next few weeks!”
Alison Clarke, Manager of Access Self Storage Kings Cross said: “We are really excited by this year’s appeal. In joining forces with Islington we hope we can make this campaign an even bigger success, it’s so heart-warming to see people thinking of others at this time of year we look forward to greeting everyone popping in with donations!”
Martin Cotmore, Manager of Access Self Storage Islington continued: “Following the huge success of our Easter appeal for Hackney Food Bank we are excited to be supporting them again this Christmas. These food gifts really help people and families in crisis in our area and can make such a difference, especially at Christmas time.”
All gifts for Hackney Food Bank may be left at the reception of Access Self Storage stores in Islington and Kings Cross between now and the 13th December, when they will be delivered to Hackney Food Bank in time for Christmas.
